The Walking Dead is one of the longest-running TV show in the US. We saw a lot of faces come and go in throughout the years. Unfortunately, one of the show’s original cast will also leave the show this season. In his recent interview, Andre Lincoln revealed the reason why he decided to leave the show.

Lincoln has been one of the most recognized faces from the show. He has been and still portrays the character of Rick Grimes, the main character in The Walking Dead. We’ve seen him slay numerous zombies throughout the seasons and honestly, the show would be a lot different without him. That’s why everyone was surprised that he would be leaving the show after the ninth season.

During the show’s panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, Lincoln officially announced that he’s leaving the show this season. The rumor has been hovering in the air for quite some time now. The announcement came as no surprise for the fans. Because of his exit, Lincoln’s character, Rick Grimes, is heavily speculated to die this season. Daryl Dixon, who is being played by Norman Reedus is rumored to be taking the lead character role.

Lincoln’s Reason For Leaving The Walking Dead
Lincoln revealed that his reason for leaving is to spend more time with his family. He has been away from his family for so long that he felt it is time for him to think about his top priority.

“Now, what’s exciting, I think for me, is the fact that the narrative is being freed up. And it’s already been freed up from the beginning of this season. You’ll see the trailer. It’s a different tone. It feels like the show that I always felt we would head toward when we wrapped the pilot. And so yeah, even sure it was something that I started to think about as my children got older and less portable.” Lincoln stated during the interview.

According to Collider, Lincoln will only play six episodes this season. The Walking Dead Season 9 is expected to be released on October 7.
